Peel Street, home of Tamworth's CBD, is a notorious shopping and business precinct in Tamworth. Since Tamworth's inception Peel Street has been the location where people come to visit, work and play.

Council will be commencing the replanting of some areas of Tamworth’s main street. The existing gardens and plantings are in excess of 20 years old and there are noticeable problems with:

• Various parts of the hedge have experienced significant damaged
• The garden beds are in need of new soil as little to no nutrients remain in the compacted soil
• Irrigation system is damaged and chocked by the roots of the existing plants, leading to unsustainable water use

The purpose of this plan is to replant certain areas of Peel Street to;

• Revitalise the appearance of Tamworth’s CBD
• Minimise water use with more sustainable plants and watering systems

The garden designs will provide an array of colour with a longer flowering period, from Spring to Autumn. There will be reduced maintenance requirements, less noticeable damage whilst being water wise and suitable for the environment.
