Part One is our road map to sustainable future growth. It will address key issues for our region such as the housing needs of our ageing population, improvements to public transport, water security, road network improvements, and additional community facilities and services.

This is not only a plan about new residents but also for all of us who live here now – and our children and their children. It is a about a well-planned sustainable community where we can continue to have the lifestyle we enjoy.

Research has confirmed to us that a larger population is needed to form the financial base which will sustain new businesses and services and enhance existing ones.

Part Two of Blueprint is called the ‘Local Strategic Planning Statement’ (LSPS).

It will guide the character of our centres and neighbourhoods into the future. It describes the future we face and what should be considered from a land use perspective to preserve and enhance our lifestyle.

It is a legal plan that is required to be completed by July 2020 and is the first step in the review of our Local Environmental Plan (LEP).

This plan provides more detail on the key actions outlined in Part One of Blueprint especially in relation to the use of land within the Region.

Blueprint 100 Key Actions include:

• delivering durable infrastructure including raw water (plus smarter ways to conserve, treat, re-use and discharge water)
• planning for new and more diverse housing opportunities in suitable locations
• supporting existing business and industry plus attracting new ones and facilitating employment growth
• ensuring safe and well-connected transport networks
• promoting waste and energy efficiency opportunities
• celebrating our cultures, history and heritage
