In December 2017, the Fitzroy Street multi-purpose space upgrade adjacent to Peel Street was completed. With the foundation of the site ready, Council will now start bringing to life the space. Community feedback has told us that the space needs embellishment, shade and to be more multifunctional.

Concept designs have been developed which Council is set to consider at the March 2019 Meeting. The designs have been developed through market research in conjunction with specialised consultants and aim to ‘Finish Fitzroy Street’.

Work commenced on the tree stratavault system on 24 August 2019 and will take approximately 4 weeks to complete then 4 mature chinese elm trees will be installed.

Street furniture including the living umbrellas will be installed later in the year once they have been constructed off site.
