About the Project

Work started on August 6, 2018, on construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Browns Lane and Moore Creek Road, Moore Creek.

The intersection upgrade will deliver road safety improvements with a new two-lane roundabout, road shoulder widening and removal of sight distance problems reducing the risk of accidents.

The project is budgeted to cost $1.7m with $800,000 of funded by the Australian Government through a grant under its 2018-19 Black Spot Programme.

Safety Improvements

The intersection has been a concern to residents and Council for some time. In May 2017, Council resolved to seek funding under the Australian Government’s 2018-2019 Black Spot Programme.

In June 2017, Council had double white line markings painted on Moore Creek Road on the approaches and through the intersection to stop any vehicles from attempting to overtake.

In a further step to improve safety in August 2017, advance warning signage with flashing lights was installed on Browns Lane either side of the intersection to advise motorists they are approaching an intersection.

Once the success of the Australian Government grant was announced in April 2018, Council finalised the design for the intersection upgrade and started work on site.
