Background

The Carthage Street Water Supply Upgrade project will see a new water main installed underground on the top side (Anzac Park side) of Carthage Street. The new main will be responsible for supplying water to the properties on Carthage Street between Darling and Hill Street.

These properties are currently connected to a large water main which Council deems to be a trunk water main. In accordance with Council's engineering standards water services are not generally installed on these trunk water mains. As such, to improve water supply in Carthage Street, Council will be installing a new 150mm water main between Darling and Hill Street.

Once the new water main is constructed properties will be connected to the new main and disconnected from the old trunk main. The new water main will increase reliability of supply to these homes as well as reducing the load on the trunk water main which will continue to connect different parts of the Tamworth water supply system.
